JOINT MEETING HOUSE TRANSPORTATION STANDING COMMITTEE HOUSE SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON MILITARY AND VETERANS' AFFAIRS April 11, 2000 3:15 p.m. COMMITTEE CALENDAR OVERVIEW: TRANSPORTATION LOGISTICS ON FIRE ISLAND TAPE(S) 00-26, SIDE(S) A [HOUSE TRA TAPE NUMBERING] CALL TO ORDER Representative Andrew Halcro, Chairman, convened the House Transportation Standing Committee meeting at 3:15 p.m. Representative Lisa Murkowski, Chairman, convened the House Special Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs meeting at 3:15 p.m. PRESENT House Transportation Standing Committee member present at the call to order was Representative Halcro. House Special Committee on Military and Veterans' Affairs member present at the call to order was Representative Murkowski. Representative Cissna arrived as the meeting was in progress. SUMMARY OF INFORMATION LARRY D. CRAWFORD, President & CEO, Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, came before the committee and discussed the concept of locating a military global logistics/forward mobility hub in Anchorage. PAUL FUHS, Project Development Consultant, Cook Inlet Region, Inc., came before the committee and discussed the concept of locating a military global logistics/forward mobility hub in Anchorage. He illustrated the available land and presented some of the issues surrounding military logistics. TOM MIDDENDORF, Planning Manager, Anchorage International Airport, testified via teleconference from Anchorage. He answered questions in relation to the length of the runways and a proposed tunnel at the Anchorage International Airport. COMMITTEE ACTION The committee took no action.
